Sway snatch point in local derby
Sway 3 Lyndhurst 3
Hampshire Premier League Division 1
Saturday 24th September 2016
The Reds started the stronger and created a number of chances, Ash Booker and Dan Marks both coming close from corner situations. But Lyndhurst then began to make their own forays into the opposition's territory. And it was the visitors who went ahead when their free-kick found their imposing striker, Josh Davey, with plenty of space to fire home. Sway levelled moments later when Mark Brading turned on the edge of the box and fired home.
The second half saw Sway squander yet more chances, Darren Ritchie firing wide from close range. We took the lead when Ryan Brading headed home from close range. More chances fell to Ritchie before Lyndhurst were awarded a penalty following a strong challenge by Booker. Five minutes after the conversion, the referee gave another penalty, adjudging Marks to have leant too hard on the Lyndhurst forward. Lyndhurst duly scored and in an increasingly feisty game, both sides pressed forward. Sway were finally rewarded two minutes from time when Ryan Brading broke through from the right to fire into the bottom left-hand corner. Sway came close to an injury-time winner but David Steadman's close range-shot failed to penetrate a melee of players.
Sway: Matt Langdown, Matt Blake, Ash Booker, Mark Brading, Ryan Brading, Dan Brennan, John Huggins, Dan Marks, Ryan O'Reilly, Darren Ritchie, Jordan Scares, Ben McQuoid, David Steadman
