Ten man Sway suffer home defeat
Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League Division One
Sway 0 Hayling United 4
23rd January 2016
Two goals at the beginning of each half made for a difficult game for the Reds at Jubilee Field, made much harder due to the dismissal of Dan Fairhurst for a straight red after just five minutes.
Hayling's opener came from a corner that was flicked in by Kieran Carter at the near post after just four minutes. Fairhurst was dismissed shortly afterwards and then the visitors struck again with a 30 yard screamer from Richie Carter. Sway managed to rebuild following these set-backs but could not exercise the visiting keeper. Our best chance came when Ashley Booker bent a free-kick round the wall that whistled past the outside of the post.
The second-half started like the first, with Hayling scoring early on as Gavin Keogh scored from close range following a cross from the right. And they went further ahead on five minutes: Josh Borrowdale made a great save but the ball broke loose and was volleyed into the back of the net by Andy Brown. The introduction of Club top scorer Bill Stride caused the visitors some problems and Sway worked hard to get back in to the game. Booker came close when he latched on to the keeper's clearance, sending the ball just wide. But the visitors deservedly went on to claim a significant victory.
