Booker's brace brings down Upham
Hampshire First Division
Sway 3 Upham 1
12th December 2015
Two goals from Ash Booker helped Sway to a deserved victory against a well-drilled Upham at a blustery Jubilee Field.
The contest was even for the first twenty minutes as neither side could turn passing moves into scoring opportunities. The game changed soon after Club Chairman, Andrew Blackwell, standing in for Dan Marks, who was busy welcoming his new daughter into the world, relocated winger Lee Taylor over to the right. The plan worked a treat as Taylor was put through by Dan Fairhurst, flicking on a long ball out of defence from Ryan O'Reilly. Taylor made no mistake as he ran into the box and drove past the keeper.
Sway began to dominate although they had to rely on Ash Booker to prevent a counter-attack from the visitors. Soon after receiving a yellow card for his efforts, Booker brought the ball into the box and scored at the second attempt after his initial shot was blocked.
Upham came out from the break with renewed determination but Sway's defence stood firm, with Ben Johnson in commanding form. Sway's third goal came mid-way through the second half. Taylor controlled the ball in acres of space on the right and found Booker at the far post who headed home.
Upham continued to look to get back into the game and keeper Josh Borrowdale needed to be alert on several occasions. The clean sheet looked secure until the final minute when a looping cross eluded the keeper and was scrambled over the line.
