McQuoid double sets up impressive win
Sway 6 Headley United 0
Hampshire Premier League Division 1
Saturday 18th February 2017
The game got off to an unfortunate start when a Headley player had to be treated for a broken ankle following an awkward fall.
Soon after the resumption, Ben McQuoid put Sway ahead as he charged forward and shot firmly past the keeper from the edge of the box. The Reds then dominated much of the first half with Sway players queuing up to get on the scoresheet. Darren Ritchie hit the post before Ash Booker brought out a great save with a long-range shot.
The goal finally came when Headley's keeper rushed out to block the in-running Ryan Brading but found himself stranded when the ball fell to McQuoid whose deflected shot somehow looped into the goal with the keeper stranded. Dan Brennan nearly got a third but his powerful headed corner went straight to the keeper.
The visitors came back strongly after the break but went further behind as Brading found himself free and this time made no mistake in beating the on-rushing keeper. Soon afterwards, Chris Bond cut in from the left and set up Jordan Scares for the fourth. With their tails up, Sway played some pretty football and deservedly scored two more through Chris Bond and Brading.
Sway: Matt Langdown, Ash Booker, Ryan Brading, Dan Brennan, John Huggins, Ben McQuoid, Darren Ritchie, Jordan Scares, Jake Bockhart, Spencer Churchill. Subs: Will Lambert, Chris Bond.
