Reserves come back to draw with Portcastrian
Sway Reserves 1 Portcastrian 1
Bournemouth Hayward Division 1
Saturday 28th January 2017
The Reserves came back from a goal behind to earn a draw at home to Portcastrian.
The visitors went ahead in the first five minutes as Sway's defence failed to snuff out an attack down the left. The Red's fought their way back in to the game but they lacked width and chances were reduced to one-on-one attempts on the keeper. Nick Broom threatened from the edge of the box but Portcastrian came closest when they hit the post towards the end of the first half.
The same post was hit early in the second-half as Sway began to dominate the game. Assistant Manager, Ryan Shepherd was brought on and almost put Sway ahead as his free-kick was flicked just over the bar. Also effective was former player-manager, Dan Marks, who put Bill Stride through on goal, only to see his shot blocked by the keeper.
Portcastrian continued to threaten and Sway's defence had to react quickly to clear off the line. The introduction of Jack Herbert changed our fortunes. His physical presence unnerved the Portchester defence and he levelled the score with a sharp shot from 15 yards.
Further chances fell to both sides but neither team could find the killer punch needed for victory.
Sway Reserves: Rob Old, Paul Jordan, Harry Boyt, Nick Broom, Chris Forbes, Lee Gilbert, Dan Marks, Liam Miller, Bill Stride, Michael Tang, Tom Linbourne. Substitutes: Ryan Sheppard, Jack Herbert, Joel Fields.
