Reserves knock out holders in ding-dong cup tie
Sway Reserves 3 Parley 2
M.A. Hart Pickford Cup 3rd Round
Saturday 26th November 2016
A late winner from Jack Herbert saw Sway into the last 16 of the Pickford Cup and earn a home draw against Bournemouth Electric (currently 8th place in the Bournemouth Premier League).
Chris Forbes put Sway ahead, firing in after a great move down the right flank. With Parley a man down for most of the first half, due to a late arriver, Sway had the opportunity to stretch their lead but couldn't find a finish,
The second half saw a full-strength Parley come out stronger and they soon drew level through a close-range header from former Sway favourite, Gareth Barnes. The Reds came close, when Ryan Shepherd's curling free-kick edged past the wrong side of the post.
At the Pavilion End, Rob Old was increasingly busy in the Sway goal and pulled off a fine save. However, he could not stop the maraudering Barnes who got behind our defence and drove past the near post.
Sway were then awarded a clear penalty and Tom Limbourne duly put Sway level. The winner came on 40 minutes when a Harry Boyt made a great run down the left wing and found Jack Herbert who fired home.
The result sees Premier League Parley relinquish the Pickford Cup which they have held for the past two seasons.
