Brothers braces smash Sway through first round
Sway 5 Alderbury 1
Southampton Senior Cup Round 1
Saturday 17th September 2016
Sway were stunned when Alderbury took the lead after only two minutes when the number 9 was put through and hammered a shot into the top right-hand corner. The Reds fought back in what became a scrappy affair and had the better of the earlier exchanges. Eventually they deservedly drew level two minutes before the interval when Mark Brading converted Jake Brockhart's cross.
The second half was a totally different story with Sway scoring three times in the opening ten minutes and effectively putting the game to bed. Mark Brading scored the pick of the goals with a left foot pile-driver on 51 minutes. His brother, Ryan, then matched his brace in the 54th and 56th minutes. Sway continued to dominate and made it five just before the final whistle when Dan Brennan headed home from close range.
Sway now look forward to an away tie in the next round against Wessex Premier League side Fawley.
Sway: Matt Langdown, Dan Marks, Spencer Churchill, Dan Brennan, Matt Blake (capt.), Jake Bockhart, Ash Booker, John Huggins, Mark Brading, Jordan Rogers, Ryan Brading. Subs. Jordan Scares, Josh McQuoid, Chris Bond, Ryan O'Reilly.
