Sway put four past Upham
Sway 4 Upham 0
Hampshire Premier League Division 1
3rd September 2016
Following last week's disappointing defeat it was imperative that Sway got back to winning ways if our aspirations of getting promotion this season are to be achieved. On paper this looked to be a real tough fixture as the visitors, who sat proudly top of the table, had won all of their previous games.
There was a real positive mood in the Sway camp and they came flying out of the blocks and took the lead after only two minutes. An excellent run down the left flank by Mark Brading resulted in his cross being half cleared to Ryan O'Reilly who hit a stunning volley from the edge of the box into the top corner. Five minutes later, Sway increased their lead when Dan Ritchie converted from the penalty spot after Josh McQuoid was felled in the area. With Ritchie and Booker pulling all the strings in the midfield it was no surprise that Sway further increased their lead when Mark Brading scored from close range following good work by Scares down the right. The last 15 minutes of the half saw Upham pressing but they couldn't breach the Sway defence with Dan Brennan and Ben Johnson in commanding form.
The second-half was a more even affair with both sides creating chances as the rain came down. Sway increased their lead on 71 minutes when Ryan Brading, who led the front line superbly, latched on to a through-ball from Ritchie and slotted home from a narrow angle.
Sway: Ryan Sheppard (GK), Jake Bockhart, Ashley Booker, Mark Brading, Ryan Brading, Dan Brennan, Ben Johnson, Ben McQuoid, Ryan O'Reilly, Darren Ritchie (Cap), Jordan Scares; Sub: Paul Brandreth, Jack Frankcom, Jordan Rogers
