Rampant Sway put a dozen past Petersfield
AFC Petersfield 2 Sway 12
Hampshire Premier League Division 1
20th August 2016
Sway registered what could well be one of the biggest wins in our history, laying down a marker for Division one of the Hampshire Premier League.
With a gale force wind behind them, Sway opened the scoring after only two minutes when Brading latched on to a through-ball to slot home confidently. The home defence simply couldn't deal with the forward striking power of Brading, Bockhart and Rogers who constantly caused havoc to the home defence. The first half saw Sway notch a further eight goals to lead 9-0 at half time with Bockhart and Bond scoring twice with goals added by and Rogers, Ritchie, Brennan and an own goal. The pick of the goals was Bockhart's 25 yard pile driver which crashed in off the underside of the bar. Equally entertaining was the goal from Ritchie, whose mazey run ended with him dummying the keeper before slotting home from close range.
The second half saw Sway once again dominant despite playing against the wind. On the hour, 17 year-old Jack Frankcom came on for Brading to make his senior debut and scored with his first touch. He continued to show what a bright prospect he is, making a couple of fine efforts only to be denied by some good goalkeeping. Brandrieth and Ritchie added further goals before Petersfield responded with two late consolation goals, one coming from the penalty spot.
This hugely impressive display sets us up nicely for next week's home game against Four Marks, who have one both their league games.
Sway: Langdown, Bond, Brennan, Lambert, Johnson, Brockhart, Blake, Marks, Ritchie, Brading, Rogers. Subs used Frankcom, Brandrieth.
